Have appropriate scale displays. Don't overstuff a 10 x 10 booth with too many (or too large) displays. Similarly, don't leave a 20 x 20 island sparsely decorated or you will confuse visitors.

Plan versatility into your displays. Purchase displays that you can use in a 10 x 10 space, or add onto for use in a larger space. Many pop-ups and other popular displays are modular, meaning you can purchase two and use them together or individually. Your designer should design the graphics so they work the same way. You can also supplement your displays with retractables (which come in many sizes), literature racks or other smaller displays.

Have the right number of reps. Three's a crowd--two knowledgeable people are plenty for a 10 x 10 booth. If too many people are already in your booth, then the hot prospect may pass you by.

Tables are not mandatory. Just because a generic skirted table is included with your space rental doesn't mean you have to use it. If you decide to use it, do not put it in front along the aisle; you are creating barriers for your prospects. Let them enter your booth and talk with you. Place the table on the side and set literature, business cards, mints, freebies, etc., on top. You may want a table throw or runner with your logo to replace or cover the generic skirt.

Think about enhancing your main display. Most companies use a large display of some sort to anchor their booth. As space allows, you may want to consider supplements like retractable banner stands, so you can have detailed information about a new product or show specials, for example. Perhaps you want to draw people to your booth from afar; an overhead banner might be what you need. Many options are available.
